About

Offbeat and off-kilter, quip is a literary journal publishing stories that move to their own rhythm. We like fresh voices, weird worlds, and themes that stretch the fabric of traditional literary fiction. Most importantly, we’re looking for work that speaks to a generation of readers. Submissions aren’t required to be written by or about millennials, but we are very cognizant of generational experience when evaluating submissions.

About the Editors

Cofounders, coeditors, and codependent-compliment-givers, we founded quip in 2018 over margaritas and shared anxiety about leaving behind the Greensboro Review. Starting a literary journal seemed like a natural, albeit crazy, next move—we loved our time at the GR, and we loved working together. So, a few months and 2,800 miles later, quip was born.

Sarah Bailey (also known as S.L. Bailey because there are fiveish other writers named Sarah Bailey) is a professional editor and the former managing editor at the Greensboro Review. Her work has appeared in the Bellevue Literary Review, SmokeLong Quarterly, and storySouth, among others. She lives in Portland, Oregon, with her husband and dogs.

Anna Blake “AB” Keeley is the former fiction editor for the Greensboro Review and is an Associate Editor for the South Carolina Review. She lives in Denver, Colorado, with a lot of plants, all of which seem to be dying at various paces.
